Yeah, I think the Helix/Gnome people are looking into it.  Icaza is the guys
name?

The thing is, .NET is a lot of technologies.  Teh "open source" part that
Icaza is working on is the CLR, so Windows apps written in VB.NET or C#
SHOULD run on Linux as if they are native (all CLR is is a MS version of
java runtime).

The other parts of .NET are already open source: XML, SOAP, TCP/IP, etc.
There really is nothing extraordinary about .NET.
