Actually, the only code I have that runs unchanged from 1985 is
assembler code I wrote on the PC.

Microsoft is discovering some of its own inertia. The three
million VB programmers are less than ecstatic about being shoved
into an 'upgrade'to VB.NET that is really a different, C-based
language, tons of stuff breaks.

I have no intention to upgrade.

I read a short mention that somebody is creating an open source
version of .NET.

I do know a guy who programs COBOL on PCs, Unix, and sometimes
minis with the same code.
