We use it at at number of clients and originally had a heck of a time
with number conversions. We created an in and out file, that have
triggers on them to do the processing we want. When they write to the
file, we trigger a routine to do the order processing, when an order get
printed for picking, we trigger a down of the stuff we need. This keeps
it linked but isolated and allows us to install it in different places
without changing it too much.

Hope this help some. (ps - we did have to get UPS in for tech support
originally, but I don’t recall what for). The 400 side was pretty
straight once the ODBC connection was made. (and no one turns it off).

I let them attach via ODBC to the 400 for real-time collection of
shipment data.
This side of the ODBC is working fine.

>We were a little leery about attaching directly to the AS/400

I created a new library with only two files in it. One has the file for
Worldship to do the SELECT to import the information. The second has
the file
for their INSERT statements for exporting data. The user profile is
excluded
from everything else on the machine.

I'll probably set up exit point programs when we're done too as a belt
and
suspenders check. This is the first ODBC we've done at this site.

UPS seemed to think our code level was OK, so they are trying a scratch
reinstall as we speak. (Yesterday's normal uninstall/reinstall didn't
seem to
do it, but it left behind many configuration settings.)
