I just had to answer this -
when the day comes that you pay $150,000 for a low-end laptop,
then you can compare what a laptop can do, and what the
AS/400 can do - until then - there is no comparison;
we being AS/400 activists need to be careful with this too,
as management tends to think like this enough on their own,
we do not need to feed the fire.

I have a laptop computer that automatically senses and adjusts
for 50/60 Hz and 110/220 V differences. For $7 I bought a set
of "front" plugs at Radio Shack. With that I can plug my machine
in anywhere in the world (and I have tried most of the them!).
All this work well and there is not reason that an entry box can't do
the same.
