How about the Internet? I would have to say I have learned more from this
mailing list then from the user group. I can search the Internet when I am
working on a project when my interest would be at its highest on a subject.
Also  there are newsletters now. There also seams to be more books out now.
And finding speakers is hard. And finding some one who wants to run the
user group is even harder.

So I would not say just because someone does not go to a user group meeting
they are not trying to keep up with new technology or are not interested in
learning.
