Is the 170 attached to a HUB or a SWITCH ? A lot of HUBS are *half duplex. I had a problem once after and OS upgrade where the 400 wasn't auto detecting correctly and manual settings of other than 10 and half would not work. I finally did a rtvcfgsrc, deleted the line and re-created it. Everything worked fine afterwards. __________________________________________________ Kirk Goins IBM Certified iSeries Technical Solutions Expert IBM Certified Designing IBM e-Business Solutions Pacific Information Systems - An IBM Premier Business Partner 503-674-2985 kirkg@pacinfosys.com -----Original Message----- From: Jay Maynard [mailto:jmaynard@conmicro.cx] Sent: Friday, October 04, 2002 8:52 AM To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: 2838 10/100 Ethernet adapter full duplex mode My 170 has a 2838 PCI 10/100 Ethernet adapter in it. I've got the line defined as DUPLEX(*FULL). When the system is first powered up, the full-duplex light on the Ethernet switch comes on, but it turns off during IPL. If I ENDTCP, then vary the line off and change the line's description with CHGLINETH (well, the menu display that does that) without actually changing any parameters, the full duplex light turns back on, and stays on after the line is varied active and STRTCP is run. What's going on here? I'm running 5.1, now, for those who weren't reading about my trials and tribulations with that upgrade. _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
