The first is inevitable, and the second is a byproduct of the first. The airlines and hotels are pleading with us to travel, and look at what you get: a bureaucracy worthy of the IRS greeting you at airport security, legroom on the airplane suitable for a hobbit, and a hotel room requiring a tetanus shot.
