Yes, I've seen this before. At a previous employer we had just one of the eight batteries in our UPS go bad and every time there was a power outage the AS/400 would crash immediately. That one bad battery prevented the UPS from maintaining the system power for more than just a very few seconds. Given the price of the replacement batteries, you may be just as well off to buy a whole new UPS rather than replacing the batteries in the old one.
