As stated, there are commercial products that monitor the message q's and allow you to page, phone, e-mail someone - If you are "stuck" with having to do this yourself - good luck - but it could be done - though I would not suggest it. you would have to do a dspmsg of say the qsysopr message q to a print file, and then read that into a program to see if there are any new messages, and then e-mail from there - The trick is that this job would be running constantly, or you could change the msq to have a break handling program - though it could be "messy" There may be some API's or system data q's that would allow you to monitor this, though I have never looked into, as buying a package IMHO is much simpler, those also allow auto answer for situations that you know how you want them handled.
