Pedro You don't need to do the DSPMSG - there's also the technique of running RCVMSG WAIT(0) against an external queue (QSYSOPR), then take action whenever a message arrives. When done, you loop back and wait for the next message But you probably don't want EVERYTHING to go out - some things are nuisance. That's where these products help you, as Mark has said. As stated, there are commercial products that monitor the message q's and allow you to page, phone, e-mail someone - If you are "stuck" with having to do this yourself - good luck - but it could be done - though I would not suggest it. you would have to do a dspmsg of say the qsysopr message q to a print file, and then read that into a program to see if there are any new messages, and then e-mail from there - The trick is that this job would be running constantly, or you could change the msq to have a break handling program - though it could be "messy" There may be some API's or system data q's that would allow you to monitor this, though I have never looked into, as buying a package IMHO is much simpler, those also allow auto answer for situations that you know how you want them handled.
