Win98 Network neighborhood does NOT use DNS it uses WINS. Add a static entry into your WINS server for each of your AS400s running Netserver. ReBoot the 98 machines that cannot see the AS400 shares. Make sure your AS400 Netserver is configured for WINS. Also set your browse announce interval for something like 600 seconds. I have a name for the as/400 on my dns server and all CAE installs reference the DNS name and not the IP address. For anything, you shuold always use a DNS name and not an IP address. Also, as a general rule, HOSTS files are bad (and setting up a DNS server is very negligible) I assume he is referign to network browsing via Netserver. Are all computers setup to view the same workgroup?
