Seems to me that this element is odd. Just to be certain, you did in fact mean 
(1) the cursor goes to upper LEFT position, (2) it really is TWINAX attached 
and (3) TELNET sessions also lockup? Hmmm... also, does the console go blank 
all by itself? or does it simply become blank when you try to type something in 
and press <Enter>?
