Is it possible that you are not compiling this display file to the library
that you are running it from?  i.e. you have two versions of the display
file, and the one you are using is not the one you have been making changes
to.  (the only reason I mention this is because it bit me about a week ago,
and I spent about half a day trying to figure out why my changes weren't
being reflected in my display file.)
