Does DSPFFD show you anything, (about database files, not screens, printer, etc) that just querying against QSYS2/SYSCOLUMNS doesn't? Well, other than eating up disk space by the output file created by DSPFFD that is obsolete about 5 minutes after you run the command. I used Display File Field Description (DSPFFD) to create an output file of the different fields in the different files in our database. Now I can Query the DSPFFD output file for the information I need. Except, that next to each field, as part of this document, my employer wants the name of the program using that file. Field Name Data File Name / Description Program Name / Description Type Length .... Last Name EmpCode / Employee number file ENTEMPLY / Assign employee number A 35 EmpMast / Employee master file EMPMAST / Enter employee information A 35 Since the program name is not part of the information provided by DSPFFD, does anyone have any suggestions on an easy was to create another file to join to the original DSPFFD file? This file should contain the program name and the output fields to join to the original DSPFFD file.
