Rob, Thanks and I would shudder too - if I was doing a box upgrade. We are doing a "box SWAP" thankfully and nothing is coming over :-) Chuck -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of rob@xxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, August 19, 2003 11:47 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: Complete Box Swap 620 @ V4R5 to 810 LPAR @ V5R2 - what towat ch for, etc. A 620? I shudder to think of all the hardware on that which might be incompatible with V5R2. However, if you can, they I would strongly recommend upgrading it to V5R2 first. Then, in theory, the IBM team could take the save and restore it into the LPAR just fine. Providing the tape drive on the new machine is compatible. Maybe they could even configure the old drive into the new machine. Check obsoleted hardware carefully. I know that numerous tape drives have died between 45 and 52.
