That's good to know. About Data Transfer, if I try to create one to an iSeries that I don't have iSeries Access licenses for I get: CWBLM0020 Cause The maximum number of available licenses for iSeries Access for Windows are currently in use. Last I heard, Rochester charges for emulator licenses because Rochester has to pay for emulator licenses. The emulator isn't an iSeries product, it some from Raleigh (if memory serves) and Rochester has to move internal "funny money" to Raleigh for the license. So to keep from showing a loss on the emulator they change a (nominal) fee. The parts of Client Access that they write (file transfer, ops nav, odbc/oledb, etc.) they don't have to pay for and as such they don't charge a fee for. -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x11 (208) 692-3308 eFax WaldenL@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur. Not necessarily. If you have an iSeries you always are able to install the iSeries Access emulator. However, if you try to connect to an iSeries on which you haven't added licensing info. for iSeries Access you will be unable to connect through the iSeries Accesss emulator. Other 5250 emulators will work fine without requiring licenses. I don't know why they charge for emulator access other than to have a way to charge shops for each user accessing the system. No biggie for some of my systems - I just don't pay for the licenses and can use iSeries Navigator and another emulator. One other feature that is licensed is data transfer. They don't charge for the client software. However, to access a server using iSeries Access 5250 emulator you do have to have server licenses per connecting user. Most, if not all, of the iSeries Navigator functions do not require licenses.
