If you specified APPEND *NO this shouldn't have happen... BRMS should have issued a message indicating that the manually loaded tape could not be used at this time. FYI, there is another way to force a load of a new tape. use the *LOAD special value in your control group: Example: Library1 Library2 *LOAD Library3 Library 1 and 2 would be saved to the same tape. Then a new tape would be loaded and Library3 would be saved to that one.
