You might see if Visual Basic is installed. I ran into similar symptoms
related to excel data transfers until Visual Basic was installed. Excel
data transfer's use VB macro functionality. I wonder if CA macros don't
need the same.

Subject: Macros in iSeries Access

I can't record macros in iSeries Access on my PC (W2K). But I can on any
other PC I've tried in the whole place.

As soon as I name the macro, I get a dialog box that states:

"PCSWS.EXE has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will
need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

The only thing I can do is click OK and the session disappears. The iSeries
thinks that device is still in use however. I must reboot my PC to get it
back. Simply restarting the session won't work.

I thought it was an iSeries access error log, but couldn't find one. Then I
decided it was a Windows error log, but Dr Watson showed nothing.

I thought pcsws.exe might be corrupt, so I copied it from another PC to
mine. No help, same error.

I checked the registered software knowledge base at IBM and the Midrange
archives and found nothing like my problem. It _seems_ like a corrupt file
of some kind, but I don't know what.

Any suggestions?
