Just in case you're not already aware of it. There is a native OS/400 virus scanner put out by Bytware called Standguard. According to them... ;-) Scanning the IFS from a PC is not particularly efficient and everyone really needs StandGuard. However, I feel it depends on how you are using the IFS. For example, if you are using the IFS in a limited manner and if you don't allow external access to the 400 and every other server & PC has on-the-fly anti-virus. Just how likely is the 400 to get a virus? Scanning from a PC may be just fine. Have you ever found a virus on the 400 IFS? If you find them often, then maybe StandGuard would make sense. just my .02 Charles > -----Original Message----- > From: Ted Barry [mailto:tbarry@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] > Sent: Wednesday, January 28, 2004 1:44 PM > To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Scanning the iSeries (IFS) for Viruses > > > Just curious, in light of the recent 'mydoom' virus, has > anyone ever tried this?
