Hi Chuck -

If I change a logical file to exclude records (where before it didn't
exclude records) and run a CHGPF against the DDS to change the logical,
will it generate a level check?

You don't want CHGPF, you want CRTLF. CHGPF does NOT read the source for logical files, it rebuilds them from their existing structure.

If all you are changing in the logical file is select/omit, it will not cause a level check since the field layout has not changed.
