Granted, DFU is ugly. But using a 1 record file and joining, as a substitute for substitution variables, is a common practice. Pat Barber's posted url may be good for you. IBM ships a subset of Query Management with every copy of OS/400. You don't get the prompter unless you have 57xx-ST1. But you can always roll your own. Try this: GO CMDQM However, ask yourself this. Is rewriting it from a join to a prompted query: - improving performance significantly - reducing errors - or otherwise making your users life easier to justify the labor? But then again, it's not that much labor. I think we can agree that changing from DFU to some other method of prompting is independent of whether or not you go from substitution parameters or from a single record join. And this is where the most labor will be. (Unless you have problems with the substitution parameters and counting quotes.)
