I have been watching this thread recently as it may help to resolve an issue I have which may be caused by contention between routing out through dial-up and LAN based Internet. If I put an entry into the host table, and change the TCP/IP Domain info (Host name search priority) to *LOCAL, I presume it will use the host table entry and ignore the remote DNS (where I know there is a contradictory address). In which case if I advise Customers to do this (when they currently have *REMOTE as the host search priority), what are the drawbacks for them? Can I cause grief on their systems by doing this ?
