Look at the Retrieve Data Queue Description (QMHQRDQD) API. You can use it in CL for a quick solution, just learn how to use %BIN - or use the *BIN data type if you are on V5R3.

You can pass a variable to AS/400 Query in similar fashion to that used
in Query Management.
