What changes that are new applications. Like: - WAS - TSM - Domino - etc There's money to be made in consulting and services by setting up those applications. I would think that the profit potential differences for services between setting up these new applications on i5's versus server farms is a rather small percentage of the total money to be had for setting up the application in the first place. I think what kills the i5's more are the facts that IBM: - Supplies the consultants setting up these type of applications with all the NT or Linux boxes they want, and make them beg and grovel for an i5 - Either stops enhancing the product for the i5 (like TSM) or has the i5 version come out months or years later than the other platforms. And minus some features. Like, guess which platform will be one of the last, if ever, to support the DB2 part of Lotus R7? Totally freaking ludicrous!
