I wouldn't hold your breath that the follow on to V5R3 has a like ptf. 
Normally these kind of temporary work arounds are only good for one 
release to convince people that IBM was serious when they put that stuff 
in the Memo to Users.  Another reason not to skip releases.  You loose the 
chance to see this kind of stuff.

You see it on this list, you read it in the Memo to Users, however you 
don't really think IBM would make a change that drastic that stops your 
applications from working until it actually happens to you.

V5R3 changed the way the CPYFRMIMPF works.  This was documented in the 
release notes for V5R3.  Just recently IBM announced a PTF that lets you 
go back to the original functioning of the command.  The PTF is SI17635.
