Colin,

Do not use the html link from the top of your browser as a book link. What
I use is ... oh, I'll just give you an example.
Starting out from my US english V5R3 home page
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/ic2924/index.htm
On the left:
  Database
    Reference
Then on the -RIGHT-
Right click on SQL Reference and select properties. Copy and paste that
address.
Works like a charm. Works for api's etc. I often paste them on to
responses to this list.

RE: Another opinion on InfoCenter

Jeff,

One thing ive noticed is that you cant bookmark the v5r3 iseries
infocenter.
Any links you have always take you back to the entry page.

The guy who decided to use an applet for the tree must have been
possessed!
It takes so long to load, and always says that my browser may not be
compatible!

cheers

1. JUST MY OPINION ON THE IBM ONLINE INFORMATION CENTER

Ahhh, The IBM Information Center, the oracle of all knowledge great and
small for the IBM iSeries. The center of the universe for iSeries techies
and managers. Wouldn't it be great if you could go to the Infocenter and
actually find what you were looking for?

I, for one, have had it! The IBM InfoCenter site, while containing the
great
nuggets of truth, is the dunghill of Web design and functionality.

The Java code is VERY Slow and VERY flakey. The search capability, if it
works at all, is ok, but it's very limited.

I have made the personal decision to Google my way to the iSeries
information I need. It's much faster and much better. Not only does it
tell
me the things IBM wants me to know about a topic, but it also brings up
other content such as iSeries Network articles.

Dear Mr. IBM, I suspect that you actually have the resources and knowledge
to fix this thing. So please spend a little of that cash on hand and fix
the
iSeries InfoCenter!

I think it's fairly well universally accepted that InfoCenter isn't.

The "dunghill of Web design and functionality" statement cracked me up. I
know long-term total frustration when I read it. <g>

The opinions expressed are my own and not necessarily the opinion of my
company. Unless I say so.
