I would have to say a logical file is a data file built over a physical file. The other would be a combined or joined logical file - a combined logical (over 2 physical files with the same data fields) to produce a data file - or - a join logical file joins 2 or more physical files together to form a data file. It either of these cases you can have the logical files create a file with all of the records or just a few records in it (by selecting or omitting data). I hope this helps?
