And there's nothing wrong with DOS; my notebooks both still run DOS and only DOS, and my Linux box is a Linux/DOS dual-boot.
Nor was there ever anything wrong with Altair BASIC, nor most of its descendants (i.e., Radio Shack Level II and Disk BASIC, IBM PC-BASIC, BASICA, GW-BASIC, and the QBASICs. The Visual BASICs are another matter, however.)
