Incidentally our user group offers 2-3 IBM quality classes each year, in 
which we bring in some high caliber IBM certified top of the line 
instructor, do the class at either a local company, or education facility 
(one class was at the hotel attached to the casino riverboat), and manage 
to price the class about 1/2 of what the price is at IBM University.  For 
us, we save on travel and lodging.  If you from out of town, we do have 
some decent quality motels at small town prices (small prices).

The next class will tentatively be downtown Evansville at Old National 
Bank, on object programming paradigms, using examples from Java, RPG, and 
other 400 language capabilities.  Dates not set yet ... it will probably be 
a 2 day class in approx 2-3 months.  If interested, you can contact our

Many other AS/400 user groups around the country do similar things, so you 
might want to check out what is offered in your area.

The Evansville IN Starbase user group meets 3rd Wed of month Sept-May
