Both IBM ESS/DSX000 and EMC Symmetrix/DMX have cache management on board and
would not incur data loss in the event of a cache failure. I/O write through
would take place and reduced cache would be used so slow performance is
about the extent of the impact.
You would not be looking at a tape restore....
