I hadn't thought about PCs accessing via the internet.

The proposed feature is one that will have user config settings on the
Iseries box because the application is also used by old tyme dumb
terminals and the option wouldn't be available to those users. Each
specific PC would have to be set up to allow the process and if the user
wants the feature IT will have make the functions available. Currently
there nothing that needs to be installed on a PC to use the main
application, perhaps that will change.

............. Remote systems don't just naturally allow another system
to start commands running on them. The PC must be configured to allow
it, whether by STRPCCMD or RUNRMTCMD.

Keep in mind that it simply might not be allowed in any given instance.
If it is indeed via the internet rather than your local network, the
chance of failure rises dramatically -- the network, e.g., firewalls,
both hardware and software -- must also allow it.
