I have been asked to see if someone would be willing to test a beta version of FTP with the AS/400-i5. I have found this program really great for cleaning up the IFS and making it easy to work with source members on my PC. If you are interested 1. Please keep in mind this is a beta version. 2. If you have any questions or you find a problem you can send it to me privately. I will pass it on to the programmer. 3. You can read about the program at: http://www.altap.cz/salam_en/compare.html It's version 2.5 that has FTP included. 4. You can download the program at: http://www.altap.cz/download.html#sal25 The standard version is what I use. 5. Install the program. 6. That version doesn't have the latest FTP update for the AS/400-i5. 7. Download the latest FTP update at: http://www.altap.cz/fix25/ftp5.rar Run the program. Navigate to the downloaded file. Double click on the file ftp5.rar. Navigate the other side of the screen to: C:\Program Files\Servant Salamander 2.5\plugins\ftp Copy ftp.spl to 2.5 beta 11 installation directory, overwrite current version of ftp.spl. 7. At the top of either column to the left of the drive letter click on the icon. Select FTP client. Click on New and type a description of your AS/400. Fill in the address. Local or remote. IP or domain. Fill in an initial path if you like. To get to the IFS root you will need: / To get to database files you will need: /qsys.lib/yourlib.lib Un-check Anonymous login and enter your user name. If you don't put in a password it will ask you for it. You shouldn't need any Advanced options. Click Connect. If you are working with the IFS things should be straight forward. If you are working in a library, members are treated a little different. "a.file/b.mbr" is downloaded to "a.b.mbr" "a.b.mbr" is uploaded to "a.file/b.mbr" "a.file/a.mbr" is downloaded to "a.mbr" "a.mbr" is uploaded to "a.file/a.mbr" Anything you send to me I will pass on to the programmer. I am not affiliated with the program in any way except I'm a happy user. Thank you, Gary Kuznitz
