Doug,The way that it was explained to me at COMMON is the "System i" is the server family name; specifically this generation of the family is the "System i5". It was a corporate decision to rename all of the server families to "System (whatever)", such as System p, System z, and System x.
Now the question that crossed my mind is, since the System i and System p are both manufactured in Rochester, is there any chance that the two will be merged into the "System pi"?
