I think your email was very negative and is the kind of attitude that prevails among the AS/400 so-called faithful. What I am excited about is that the System i family name allows us to be ONE family again - inclusive of AS/400, iSeries and System i5 servers. Adopt it. Be positive. Embrace this change, since you won't have to worry for quite some time. IBM has committed to us that this name change is a way for GMs - like Mark Shearer - to stop worrying about the impact of a name change, have a consistent message to work with and focus on the family and its growth.
The time is NOW. System i is OUR family. If you choose to embrace it, we have a future. If not, we will remain schizophrenic and disconnected. Come home, Lassie.

Regardless, "i" think they've gone too far. Especially when the primaryusers (us), don't know what to call it anymore! And, if we don't know whatto call, how is the general public going to know what to call it, or even what "it" is? How in the ____ are we supposed to keep up? And then what are we supposed to put on our resume? It's gotten to the point of being rediculous! I don't mean to rant, but I'm just frustrated at IBM and the name game they're playing. I'm really starting to believe the old addage that they really are IDIOTS BEHIND MACHINES! Maybe I'm wrong in my thinking, but Ireally don't see businesses rushing out to buy this machine because of thenew (cool) name, I think they'll buy it because it runs the applications they need and supports their business. Anybody else? Ron
