I have been sending alerts to my pager and reports to users for years
using SMTP with SMTPRTE(INTERNET USERS)

This weekend our network folks retired an Exchange server and this
morning no users got their reports. My network people are telling me
that I MUST specify a mail router to make this work.

If I specify their mail router with FIREWALL(*YES) I can send reports to
my internal users. If I specify their mail router with FIREWALL(*NO) I
can send alerts to my pager and outside email addresses. Of course I
could also do this just using SMTPRTE(INTERNET USERS)

What do I need to do to make both work again?

Thanks,
