Get new networking guys?

The issue is on their end most likely. If with Firewall(*YES) your mail gets to them then so does your external stuff but they aren't forwarding that for you. They should play nice and do that. In the other case the mail is going outside but not making it to them which smells like a DNS issue. That is the iSeries has either the wrong DNS server configured or it's the correct one but does not properly report the MX record for your mail server. It should reply with an Internal (i.e. private) IP address of the server.

By the way the INTERNET USERS refers to an entry in the WRKDIRE which someone (perhaps yourself) has designated as the route to SMTP gateway in the CHGDSTA command.

Hope this helps some!

This weekend our network folks retired an Exchange server and this
morning no users got their reports. My network people are telling me
that I MUST specify a mail router to make this work. If I specify their mail router with FIREWALL(*YES) I can send reports to
my internal users. If I specify their mail router with FIREWALL(*NO) I
can send alerts to my pager and outside email addresses. Of course I
could also do this just using SMTPRTE(INTERNET USERS)
What do I need to do to make both work again? Thanks, Scott Ingvaldson
