I don't want to discourage you from trying this but you will fail. This needs to be done in Linux with the IFCONFIG commands and editing of the various files in /etc/sysconfig/networking..... directories. Go for it.

However, IBM has all this locked down because messing with the IP config of the box in any way except that prescribed by IBM (i.e. the GUI) is fraught with peril. Meaning you may lose connectivity to your System i, and that wouldn't be good.

Don't ask me how I know this.... :o)

HMC) can have multiple IP addresses on a single interface.
