The memory was on the main logic board; there were 32MB SIMMs in four slots, white plastic "dentures" in the other four slots, and an odd-looking white plastic box below the memory sockets. The new SIMMs were 128MB each, so the result was a fivefold increase in the available memory. I was in and out of the building in about half an hour.
What, by the way, is the "odd-looking white plastic box"? It's about the size of all 8 SIMMs combined.
