I would like to see IBM give us a way (API or command) to look at all
devices connected from an IP address. Then we could look at the IP
address of the display session and use the API to get any other active
session from that same IP address. Naming issues would be resolved as
they could have called BobDisplay and TomPrinter and still get
associated by IP.

Mark,
rather than using API's, etc , I would suggest you use a "clear" naming

schema for the Emulations sessions, both display and printer, so if
display emulation session is named, eg, "DSPxx" , the printer
emulation session be named "PRTxx", or any other schema you decide for

your clients.
Just one of these days someone was asking how to find out the display
name
- if from CL, RTVJOBA JOB(&DSPNAM)
- if from RPG use the Program Status DS , JobName (in your case, the

Display's name) is in positions 244 thru 253
Then, the Program that servers the ATTN Key, can derive very easyly the

Printer Name (and, accordingly, its OUTQ name... ,should they be the
same) from the display session name...
Just my 2 cents,

Now when users run a program in "Session A," how can the program
retrieve

the name of that OS/400 output queue name that is associated with
"Session

B" on the same PC?
