Thanks, Rob. I discovered the QsyGetProfileHandleNoPwd can also be used to retrieve the handle for the current user. I didn't notice the "*CURRENT" special value because I was looking at QsyGetProfileHandle and not QSYGETPH. I guess the difference is that the former is a procedure and the latter is a program. I used this sample http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/topic/apiref/apiexushand.htm I added one line to do a file update and it worked fine. Good test sample. <clip>
