   In your ref to System() are you referring to the unlink() API
That Scott Klements talks about in "Working with the IFS in RPG IV"?
because performance is a factor.  I am also trying to determine the
best solution performance wise.

using qcmdexc, or system(), for this command may work also
del '/rob/temp/*'
starting qshell may have more of a performance impact.  Also requires
that 
you have qshell loaded on your system.
