Well...V5R1 isn't very recent. Here's a quick Google, from the V5R3 documentation: *Open query file (OPNQRYF) command considerations* The Open Query File (OPNQRYF<http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/topic/cl/opnqryf.htm>) command, as shown below, can retrieve or perform selection of Unicode data. Using the MAPFLD parameter, data can be mapped to or from Unicode. OPNQRYF FILE(U_TABLE) QRYSLT('NAME=MAPNAME') MAPFLD((MAPNAME 'John Doe' *GRAPHIC *N *N 1200)) On 10/24/06, James H H Lampert <jamesl@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
I just ran into something really strange: a customer is reporting a problem with OPNQRYF on a mostly-Unicode file, with Unicode keys, and a Unicode field in the QRYSLT clause: if he tried to do the query from within our QuestView product, it was returning some really weird errors. If I try it on his file, on our V5R1 box, I get a much more obvious problem: OPNQRYF doesn't work at all with a QRYSLT on a Unicode field. Nor, once I realized I was doing a QRYSLT on a Unicode field, was I surprised that it didn't work: I've never heard of OPNQRYF getting along with Unicode at all. Was OPNQRYF recently updated to allow QRYSLTs on Unicode fields? If so, when? Obviously not V5R1. -- JHHL -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
