There have been a number of such "through the wall" APIs between PASE and i5/OS for some time now. IBM worked with zend to introduce a number of additional APIs to make all this work. It is one of the reasons why it is limited to V5R4 at present.
I dont see mention of the PASE improvements on the v5r4 infocenter site: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/topic/rzalf/rzalfwhatsnew.htm here is the documentation on accessing the i5 database from PASE: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/topic/rzalf/rzalfdatabase.htm all that is mentioned is SQL CLI. just academic interest on my part. IBM lets me download all the latest AIX software for no charge, but I cant afford v5r4. -Steve
