I had a problem a while back and IBM and I went around and around. IIRC, if you have a local account on that server with the same authentication information, it will work fine. If you don't, then you need a GUEST local account on the server. Then your authentication should work fine. The problems is that your network Admin person won't like any of your ideas. I was working with an NT server, but I don't know how much that changes IBM's approach. It seems to me that they first needed to make a connection so they could exchange the actual authentication. And that had to be done through either a local account or a guest account. - Michael On 10/26/06, Fisher, Don <dfisher@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
Yep, PING successfully finds the server. Remember that I am getting entries in the server's event log indicating the user i.d. and/or password is invalid so I know the server is receiving the request. You may be confusing domain with server here. A domain is a collection of servers and user i.d.s, not a specific server. The user i.d. I'm attempting to use belongs in the domain, but so does the server so I don't understand the server's problem. Donald R. Fisher, III Project Manager RoomStore, Inc. If not, then you're got route issues somewhere or you are using an incorrect IP address in your iSeries host table. <clip> -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
