Am I going? -- when schedule permits. It's close to 2 hour travel each way.TV screen? - half of what I go for is the interaction with other attendees. One can learn a lot from other's experiences. The TV screen will also limit the conversation one can have with the presenter. How would this be any different than IBM's Lunch n Learn program, or other webcasts offered by iSeries News (forgot the new name) and others.....? I have participated in video training, and it has never equaled the quality of onsite real training (in the same room). The interaction, which is vital, is lost. Perhaps newer video systems can overcome this, but I have not seen it. If all this could be driven via video, picture a video "Common" and for those who have been to Common, ask yourselves what you learned at Common that was not in a presentation (and for me, that's a lot). There is also a need to get away from office & home distractions in order to concentrate on all that is Common or a LUG.

Are you currently going to your LUG meetings? Would you go to your LUG meetings, more or less likely, if your major presenter was a TV screen? Would the next step be, why travel at all? Why not just have a webcast at home or work? Or do you still like a little personal interaction?
