Not safe to assume that - you don't need NetServer at all to use NFS
- they have absolutely nothing to do with each other. As Scott said,
NetServer enables Windows machines to see shares on an iSeries - QNTC
is the reverse - enables an iSeries to see shares on Windows
machines. Both use Samba.

Neither uses Samba. Samba is a different software product, similar to NetServer/NetClient except that it's for Linux instead of i5/OS.
