Yes, I wanted to check something else and found it dead (for all 
releases). It's back up now (7:25 PM Friday 05Jan07). I used a local 
copy of the PDF to check my quoted source.
By design or not, it still seems to be odd that the user can do anything
to the object except change authorities :-)
There are many inconsistencies in the way permissions for stream files 
and directories work when viewed from the traditional perspective. A 
copy that works from cp within QSHELL will fail when attempted via the 
CPY command under the same user. The only reliable thing is that *RWX 
(data permissions) and the UGO levels behave as they do on Unix. Object 
permissions (which don't exist in Unix) behave not quite like they do 
for QSYS.LIB objects.
It appears that in this case CHGAUT is consistent with the rules of 
chmod() but inconsistent with the rules of GRTOBJAUT.
