For a low tech approach, at my first programming job (in west Texas), we kept a spray bottle of diluted Bounce in the computer room. We sprayed it on the carpet and on our pants legs if we noticed any static buildup. List, We seem to have a worse-than-usual case of static electricity problem this year, not only all through the building but especially worrisome in the computer room. Our night operator is worried because he's had a static charge released several times when reaching for a tape (a backup that just finished). That can't be good. I know about the mats you can get to stand on, but it would take an awful lot of them to solve our problem. Is there something the operator can wear or do that will help this problem? Your comments please.
