There have been a number of messages about converting a spool file to PDF. A couple of years ago MCPress had a series by a gentleman from Italy, Giuseppe Costagliola, who wrote the code to do just that. The following link goes one of the four articles that covered the software he made available. The source code was available as a zip file.
