A DSPOBJD does not give you whether a file is a source file or not. I wanted a list of every source member in my system recently and had to do a DSPFD to get the information. A DSPFD *BASATR to an outfile should do it and then just delete out anything that is not a source file (ATDTAT <> 'S'). We have source files that do not have Q* so cannot use that. One potential solution would be to create a library and do a SAVOBJ for each source file/libraries to this library to a save file and then do a SAVLIB of that library to a SAVF. You can nest Save Files inside Save Files. You could write a little CL to read the list by library and build the source file list and when a new library comes into calculate the save file name and run the SAVOBJ command. Anyway, just a thought. -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of midrange-l-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, February 21, 2007 9:26 AM To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: MIDRANGE-L Digest, Vol 6, Issue 420 Send MIDRANGE-L mailing list submissions to midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to midrange-l-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx You can reach the person managing the list at midrange-l-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxx When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of MIDRANGE-L digest..." *** NOTE: When replying to this digest message, PLEASE remove all text unrelated to your reply and change the subject line so it is meaningful. I do think the admin I'm dealing with (he's remote, i'm remote) is not too sure why it's failing. He has indicated no log msgs. In the RPGMail, trying to understand the code, it would seem I should get an error msg in the joblog if a sending error. This is all I see: <log> call rpgmail/T_rpgmail Current directory changed. Environment variable added. Java Virtual Machine is Classic. JVM properties were loaded from a properties file. </log> jim

OPNQRYF | CPYFRMQRYF I have used a similar method for years and have never seen what you are describing. Can you look at the stack and get a "slightly" better idea of what might be happening ? What does the CLP source look like ? I agree with Art that a Gsort would be quicker. Doug Palme wrote:

does take a while to run (about 4 hours). I was trying to figure out why they were running at the same time.

Jim, I think if you define your print file as AFP with COLOR, you'll be able to use the color overlay with no problems. You'll always have problems with an SCS print file and a color overlay. Also, be sure to pick a *WSCST that supports color when you define the printer device or outq. I've strongly suggested preprint the logos on the form. However they want flexibility in which logos appear. What they are looking for is a very "high end" invoice appearance, but not the 10 to 15k software for the iSeries when they can see any pc print a pdf in color.... jim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat Barber" <mboceanside@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Midrange Systems Technical Discussion" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, February 21, 2007 9:52 AM Subject: [SPAM] Re: get color overlay to work?
Be aware that extensive color printing will be fairly pricey using color lasers. I get a fair amount of static from customers when they need to buy new cartridges. Lexmark and HP developed a real revenue stream selling this stuff. Preprinted forms are going to be a good bit cheaper than printing "in house". An example is a Lexmark C522 color laser. To do a total reload on cartridges costs just over $400. When you consider that the printer only costs $400, that's a a pretty stiff price to pay. Why not buy the forms with "just" the color logo and everything else blank ??? You do the rest with DDS. Jim Franz wrote:From the archives, there was discussion of getting color overlays towork on the iSeries, with no thread announcing success. Need to print
